Like a jewel handpicked from the chocolate swamps of the dirty south, hails the Goddaughter from the Muddy Waters. 2Meka Diaz. Meka began writing and performing monologues at the age of 6. Raised in a single-parent home, her late mother worked low-wage jobs in efforts of moving her family out of public housing. Her father served in the military including the Gulf War. Her mother was a community activist and vocalist who taught Meka and her siblings how to harmonize in specific vocal ranges and formed a family gospel group that traveled and performed at churches throughout the south. She quickly excelled in music after joining the band in 3rd grade and went on to become a skilled clarinet player and lead the marching band as drum major in middle and high school.
Meka got her first real break in acting when appearing as a featured extra in Kasi Lemmons’ Eve’s Bayou which features Samuel L. Jackson, Lynn Whitfield, Lisa Nicole Carson, Jurnee Smollett, Debbi Morgan, Meagan Good, and Diahann Carroll. She went on to work in radio, appear in national TV spots, and will be featuring in several upcoming films slated for future release.
Meka gained attention in the hip-hop scene when she began showcasing her lyrical delivery of rapping in twist and triple twist patterns. After relocating from New Orleans to Atlanta, Meka first signed to Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Records and appeared as a guest artist on Cuttboy G-Dinero’s single “Tilt Ya Hat” which also features Atlanta’s own Pastor Troy. She featured on G-Dinero’s single “Woedee”which features Mike Will Made-It Ear Drummer Records artist Eearz.
She later joined Corey “C-Murder” Miller’s TRU Records, appearing as a guest artist on numerous tracks with Miller, including Boosie Badazz and C-Murder’s joint album Penitentiary Chances on the track “Remember Me.”
Meka released a solo single project “B.M.S” (Bang My Sh**), produced by President of TRU Records Cuttboy G-Dinero. The record was hailed as an original and distinguished banger with the video being added to BET Jams, MTV, Music Choice Radio/Video, and secured the #7 position on the Urban Influencer Rap Mixshow Chart. She also was featured in Billboard Magazine’s 2021 Grammy Preview Issue.
Meka, C Murder, and Cuttboy G Dinero released a single collaboration titled “Bitch,” which rips non-stop, twisted, back to back split verses between the trio.
Meka will be appearing on many upcoming projects including TV One’s ATL Homicide Season 4 Episode 17 and a highly anticipated project by New Orleans/Atlanta-based rapper NOLA Poboi Dirty T, produced by Mike Will Made-It.
Meka also rbrands her voice with professional voiceovers and voice tags for various clients. She also serves as a Criminal Justice Reform activist by bringing awareness to social injustices of minorities in America. She is a pageant judge, a board member of Elsie Scott Dunn’s Edify Teen Life Center, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
